Stepping out of the trap

The idea of ‘me’ overcoming myself is as plausible as setting a trap designed to catch itself.

Let’s come back to the story of the fish who yearns for dry land.

Conflict arises the moment we draw a line in the sand between here and there. It starts with an internal narrative of this, or I, am not good enough. We then try to imagine our way out of the self-created problem. The trap is set, except you didn’t notice that you’re already caught in it. It’s like the problem of trying to not think of apples - your mind becomes like an orchard.

What if instead of creating a divide between where we find ourselves and where we long to be, we could Shift into a new perspective that transforms conflict into coherence. Yin and Yang never got anything done being at odds with each other; neither can we. Is it possible to find a path to peace when the problem is framed as a battle with yourself? That’s like a fish looking for freedom in the hook of a fishing line.

The more we pull on one end of our experience, the more forcefully the other pulls back; a never ending tug-of-war with ourselves. Ready to drop the rope? Let’s do that together 👇.
